R7 Solutions to Build Pipeline Emergency Mangement System for Fortune 100 Energy Company

HOUSTON, TX, May 22, 2001 – R7 Solutions Inc., a Houston-based information technology consulting firm, announced today that it has begun work on a pipeline emergency management system, including extensive GIS and telephony integration, for OpCo, Inc. a Fortune 100 energy company. The system will assist pipeline operations engineers in managing both routine incidents and emergencies on the company’s tens of thousands of miles of pipeline.

R7 Solutions was selected for the project because of its extensive GIS background, fault-tolerant and distributed computing expertise, and business-critical systems architecture experience.
The system will include integrated telephony and geographical information systems to provide managers with centralized control of incoming calls, call routing, routine and emergency truck dispatch, and automated map, pipeline, and response team information. The system also includes back-end integration with existing SAP and other ERM and HR systems. The system will be built with a scalable, fault-tolerant architecture that will allow managers to add additional control centers and to rapidly re-route operations to other control centers when necessary.
